A Reconstruction of a Roman Watchtower on the Limes Germanicus, 3/26. The original tower was first built around 83 A.D. and seems to have been in use until about 260 A.D. The reconstruction is beautifully built and features a finish of white walls with the bricks outlines in red. As the original tower would have probably looked, though one corner has been left to show the underlying brickwork. While easy to find on the L3026 just outside Idstein parking is limited. The tower is just a short walk from the parking spot. The views out over farmland from the tower are excellent and there is also a very short stretch of reconstructed wooden palisade. Well worth a visit.
